Why should we advocate?

Once you use your voice, your legislators will listen. As the next generation of policymakers, we must ensure that our governments hear our concerns and are prepared for the future.  Contacting your congressional offices is one way to create high impact change and be an advocate for a cause you believe in.  At Michigan, we advocate for the rights of children around the world and seek to maintain the mission of UNICEF USA in Ann Arbor and beyond.

The Borgen Project reports that it isn’t uncommon for a Congressperson to recognize a poverty-reduction bill after as few as seven calls from their constituents.  In less than 30 seconds, you could change the course of a representative's agenda.
