Miles4Migrants Fundraiser

Halloween Bake Sale

UNICEF UM sold donuts, hot cider, and more during their Halloween bake sale, in partnership with UNICEF USA, to receive funds for the children in Iraq.

UNICEF UM orchestrated a Halloween arts & crafts event, which included painting pumpkins, decorating cookies, and coloring. Members had an amazing time getting to know each other while partaking in Halloween festivities.

Succulent Sale

UNICEF-UM held a succulent, mini pumpkins, and Washtenaw Dairy donut sale, arranged by the Fundraising Committee. Proceeds from the sale benefited the UNICEF organization.

Miles4Migrants fundraiser
April 2021
Together with the Pre-Medical Club and Student United Way UMICH, we hosted a week-long campaign for Miles4Migrants, a nonprofit charity that uses donations to help people impacted by war, persecution, or disaster start a new beginning in a new home. They partner with other nonprofits to identify refugees, asylees, asylum-seekers, and their immediate family members who have legal approval to travel but cannot afford it and cover the cost of their airfare/travel. The goal for this fundraiser is ultimately to raise money and take the financial burden of airfare expenses off of people who desperately need to find a safer home.

Panel on Trafficking and Immigration in the U.S.
November 2020
During National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, our virtual symposium focused on the international human rights of children, with a particular emphasis on children who have crossed national borders seeking asylum or being trafficked. It was designed to empower those who have the ability to instill change, and raise awareness about child trafficking’s proximity to us and the resources available to victims in the US.

Students for Yemen

The UNICEF-UM club worked to lead and participate in Students for Yemen, a network and resource for organizations dedicated to raising awareness, promoting education, and fundraising for the children of Yemen. Together with 30+ student organizations, Students for Yemen raised $19,550, donating the funds to UNICEF USA's efforts in Yemen.

Trick-Or-Treat for UNICEF

In past years, we have participated in Trick-Or-Treat for UNICEF in the neighborhoods surrounding the UM campus. This year, we engaged in a virtual version of this fundraiser, collecting donations via Instagram and donating them to UNICEF USA's Trick-Or-Treat initiative.

To celebrate Halloween, UNICEF UM threw a halloween themed party. An entry fee of $3 was required and proceeds went to the UNICEF organization

World Health Day Symposium
April 2021
This virtual symposium will promote child health and nutrition, exploring how different organizations implement solutions to this global issue. The purpose will be to inform the University of Michigan community and the general public about the varied and important work being done to fight for the health of children with a particular emphasis on the world of UNICEF, the United Nations and Sustainable Development Goal #2, and the World Health Organization.

Succulent Sale

Organized by our Fundraising and Service Committee, we virtually sold succulents and donated the profits to UNICEF USA.

GroundCover Fundraiser

This fundraiser initiated by UNICEF-UM's Education & Outreach committee partnered with a local nonprofit publication, GroundCover, which works to empower low-income communities while shedding light on issues of poverty and homelessness. Through a three day-long Instagram fundraiser, we raised $365 for GroundCover.
